General Information

Fitting of its name as the Academy City, a majority of the inhabitants of Kivotos are students. They live alongside human-like animals and robots who are treated similarly to humans. Kivotos is mostly run by its students, including the General Student Council which oversees all of Kivotos. Likewise, most schools are self-managed by the students of that specific school, typically in the form of their student councils.

Halos

All students possess a halo, each with a unique appearance—whether it be in color, shape, pattern, or form. The appearance of a student's halo depends on many factors, though major ones include their personality, origin, and/or symbol. These halos are an integral part to the extraordinary life in Kivotos, where gunfights are an ordinary part of everyday life. Halos provide students with a supernatural degree of resistance, allowing them to shrug off not only small arms fire, but also explosions, large munitions, and vehicular impacts, among other life-threatening injuries, with ease. However, because the damage that a student takes is not zero, it is still possible for them to die from these instances if severe enough and left untreated.

The presence of a student's halo generally can be used to determine whether they are conscious or not. When a student is unconscious, whether it be from sleeping or a concussion, their halo will not manifest. However, in the case of death, students often use the phrase of "breaking a halo," which is equivalent to death for a student. While death is rare due to the difficulty and the morality of the students, it is still possible through a number of different means.

Firearms

While it's not confirmed that all students are required to possess a firearm, a firearm is treated in Kivotos just as a real world student would treat their cell phone—that is, as an essential part of everyday life. Firearms are seen in widespread use in Kivotos, being used for everyday scuffles to full-blown wars between academies. The ubiquitous nature of firearms in Kivotos has, likewise, resulted in ample infrastructure set up to maintain their usage, including easy access to munitions from sources like vending machines and convenience stores, to easily available places to recycle used equipment such as ammunition, magazines, and even entire guns themselves.

Appearance

Students tend to share a theme depending on their school's real-world analogs, such as the country and religious/mythological/folklore it is based on. For instance, Gehenna's clothing is generally more based on historical German military uniforms, and its students contain more "devilish" traits, such as horns, demon tails, or pointy ears. Contrasting Gehenna would be Trinity with their sailor uniforms and "angelic" traits—mainly large, avian wings.

There are also instances of students wearing other types of clothing in special occasions (e.g. dress for gatherings, gym uniform for athletics, or a school uniform for casual/touring purposes when regular clothing is otherwise considered inappropriate). Known as Variants, the most prominent in Blue Archive are New Year and Swimsuit variants, which are usually featured at the beginning or end of the year and in the summer months respectively. While most variants are available to pull either through normal or limited-time gacha, others are only available in quests as part of the story.

Playable Variants

Non-Playable Variants
Non-playable variants of playable characters, which are available in stories only. Some of the variants of older characters such as Serika and Hifumi are visually similar to their playable iterations, often featuring sprite changes that vary considerately.

Ark Uniforms
In Volume F at the request of Urawa Hanako, Nekozuka Hibiki would tailor uniforms for select students from Abydos, Millennium, Trinity, Gehenna, and the General Student Council onboard the Ark of Atrahasis. The uniform featured various amenities such as flame retardancy, explosive prevention, and waterproofing while also capable of detecting the physical condition of the wearer.

Age

Most of the students featured in the game are in high school range of age 15-18 as the game only features schools that is considered a high school, though elementary and middle school do exist in Kivotos. Some students however have special cases of being younger and still considered a "high school student" and play distinct roles in the high schools they are enrolled in. Examples include Tanga Ibuki and Sunohara Kokona who are both 11 in age, hold positions within the Pandemonium Society and the Plum Blossom Garden respectively.

Other special cases are older students, as in passing the actual student age for high school. They are implied to not being able to graduate and is considered students of Kivotos till date, which is caused by their suspension or expelling from the school they originally belong in. This is evident among those of the Seven Prisoners and Hyakkiyako Alliance Academy's Nature's Beauty Club, the latter a renegade organization within the school; Kosaka Wakamo is implied as "going past her school age" (at 18) due to Hyakkiyako expelling her, and Shintani Kai was already a third year when she was expelled from Shanhaijing (and was expected to graduate that year) but is still considered as a student in the current game timeline, which is a year past.

Some students in their introductions have ages that left out, with an example being Sunohara Shun; while she is a third-year student at Shanhaijing, both her default and younger variants' ages are labelled as "Top Secret". Another case is Renkawa Cherino; she is also a third-year student at Red Winter Federal Academy, though her age is simply left ambiguous (likely due to the chaotic nature of the Red Winter Office); this is also an occurrence with Tendou Alice and Tendou Kei, who are bygone relics of the Nameless Priests. While their age is simply "??", they may perhaps be the oldest student in the game given the time elapsed between the departure of the Priests and the Saiba twins finding Alice.

Sunaookami Shiroko in an alternate timeline (asides being visibly older than her regular self) would de facto be unable to graduate from Abydos High School due to the destruction of Kivotos in the same timeline. After serving alongside with Phrenapates as the vanguard of the Iridescence and a vagabond in the Abydos district sometime after Volume F, in Volume 1, Chapter 3 towards the end of the chapter when she join forces with members of the Countermeasures Committee and in her student intro, she is affiliated with the Abydos Student Council (though the latter may be for gameplay reasons, such as appearing in other schools in Schedule).

Affliation

As the name implies, students are considered as a person who are actively studying in their respective institutions (taking lessons and active in their respective institution activities). In-game, this particularly determines materials for their skills as those are separated into schools to begin with. These students are also implied to be a member of a club or group that is related to their own institution. However, the normal situation (of being an active students) may not be applicable to every students, due to either the institution's, or the respective student's circumstances.

As mentioned above, some students has been either expelled or suspended by their own institution, but remains affiliated as a student of such schools in-game. The former applies to Kai and Wakamo of Shanhaijing and Hyakkiyako, the latter applies to some students like members of Handyman 68 who are suspended from Gehenna for the time being. Some just voluntarily drops out from their institution like Komakaze Rabu who was originally student of Trinity, but still recognized as one in-game.

There are also institution's circumstances like SRT Special Academy, whose students who are school less on paper due to disbandment of their school, and while some of them denied the affiliation, are under de facto care of Valkyrie Police Academy, hence the usage of Valkyrie materials. Arius Branch School students in the other hand remains recognized as Arius students, although the events of Volume 3 and Volume 6 put them partially under Trinity care, except for Shirasu Azusa, who has been "completely" transferred to Trinity before that (and the only case of by-the-book transfer student so far), having defected from Arius.
